15 Nov Thanksgiving in Gilbert
The big day is finally here! Turkey Day 2018 is this Thursday and there is plenty to do in Gilbert to celebrate. Whether you are looking to start new traditions or simply want to take a year off from your traditional Norman Rockwell-esque family dinner, there is something for everyone this Thanksgiving. Here are some options for you to spend your holiday in the area.
Gilbert Turkey Trot
Work off that turkey before it even hits your lips! At the Gilbert Turkey Trot, runners will have the chance to run either a mile or 5K with hundreds of likeminded holiday hoofers. And the best part is that 100% of the proceeds from this fun run go to support the efforts of local charities! This year, the earnings will go towards the work of AZBrainFood, which provides food to school children who don't have a steady source of meals, as well as Families Fighting Blindness, which helps combat blindness in children due to various diseases. Lace up your running shoes, grab your family and friends, and give the Turkey Trot a chance!
Get Out of the Kitchen
Why go to all the trouble of cooking a massive Thanksgiving feast when you could have someone else do it for you? The Keg Restaurant and Bar is serving up all your favorites, and you don't have to lift a finger! Enjoy a creamy Caesar salad followed by a traditional turkey dinner with all the fixins. You'll get your juicy, delicious turkey, cranberries, veggies, potatoes and gravy, and stuffing. Then finish it off with smooth cheesecake with a pumpkin drizzle. All this for only $30! It's Thanksgiving fun without the Thanksgiving stress.
Thanksgiving Day Parade
It may be a bit of a drive from Gilbert, but seeing how the Fountain Hills Thanksgiving Day Parade is, in fact, the only Thanksgiving Day Parade in all of Arizona, it is definitely worth it. You'll get to see impressive floats, the best local marching bands, street performers, and more. As the old saying goes, everybody loves a parade!
This year, try something new for Thanksgiving. If you do end up going to one of these events, be sure to let us know on Facebook and Instagram. And keep following our blog here for more events and opportunities in and around Gilbert!
